Exciting Senior Data Architect Opportunity with Pan European Impact

Our client, a dynamic international organisation dedicated to pioneering innovative data platforms, is seeking a highly experienced Data Lead to drive the design and deployment of a centralised data infrastructure. This fully remote (within Romania) role offers a unique blend of strategic influence and

Role Description

In this role, you’ll take ownership of developing and managing a scalable, secure central data platform that integrates multiple local markets, enabling standardized and local reporting capabilities. You’ll directly contribute through coding and data engineering tasks, while also guiding small local data teams. Collaborating with internal stakeholders and global IT, you will establish best practices, foster innovation, and support automation initiatives. The role requires balancing technical excellence with strategic leadership to ensure the success of
- market data projects.

Technical Must Have Skills:

Cloud Platform Expertise – Hands-on experience with major cloud providers, preferably Microsoft Azure; AWS or Google Cloud is also acceptable, with practical deployment knowledge.

Proficiency in Python – Strong coding skills to develop and optimise data pipelines, ETL workflows, and automation processes, with the ability to work
- on.

Data Management & Governance – Sound understanding of data quality, security, and governance standards, ensuring compliance and data integrity across diverse datasets.

Extensive Data Architecture & Engineering Experience – Proven ability to design and implement
- scale, resilient data systems with a deep understanding of structured data (Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres).

Experience Handling Large & Varied Datasets – Track record working with complex, structured/tabular data sets in multiple environments, supporting scalable analytics and reporting needs.

Nice to Have Skills:

Orchestration Tools Knowledge – Experience with systems like Airflow, Azure Data Factory, or similar tools to streamline data workflows and enhance automation.

Familiarity with Modern Data Technologies – Knowledge of Delta Lake, Py
Spark, or Polars for
- performance data processing and storage solutions.

Leadership & Mentoring Capabilities – Ability to guide and develop smaller data teams, sharing best practices and fostering continuous learning.

Stakeholder Communication Skills – Aptitude to translate complex technical concepts to
- technical stakeholders effectively, facilitating collaboration and alignment.

Project Management & Agile Practices – Experience leading data projects with a focus on collaboration, planning, and delivery in
- paced environments.

Additional Functional Requirements:

Strong Interpersonal Skills – Ability to mentor / manage junior staff and collaborate effectively with
- functional teams.

Problem-Solving Mindset – Skilled in diagnosing complex data issues and developing innovative solutions.

Adaptability – Comfortable working remotely across different time zones and with diverse cultural teams.

Analytical Thinking – Capability to interpret data needs and translate them into technical specifications and infrastructure designs.

Commitment to Best Practices – Focused on maintaining high standards in data quality, security, and operational excellence.

Educational and Certification Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field – A relevant degree or equivalent practical experience.

Relevant Certifications (preferred) – Certifications in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) or data architecture are advantageous.
