Director of Construction
Total Resourcing Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Construction to lead the dynamic construction team. In this senior leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our client’s construction strategy and fostering a culture of excellence and safety.
The Director of Construction will provide oversight on the construction of the infrastructure, and refurbishment project. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Provide oversight to ensure the Prime contractor meets the requirement of the EPC contract.
- Acts as the interface between Project, QA and Construction as required to meet the oversight requirements.
- Reviews Radiation Protection is such that all reasonably achievable means of dose reduction are implemented by the constructor.
- Accepts all construction work packages
- Performs oversight responsibilities as the supervisor for Radiation Protection, safety, Construction, Civil, Mech, Elect and I&C Works,
- Review inputs to the reporting of construction schedule, budget, dose and manpower requirements
- Provides oversight for safety programs of vendors and assist OSH Manager.
- Review safety incident investigations as part of Corrective Action Program
- Identifies risks on behalf of the owner with suggested mitigation strategies.
- Provides advice to the client on opportunities based on OPEX.
- Provides reports to the client on performance of the constructor and input to a score card as applicable.
Requirements
Professional Knowledge and Experience:
- Minimum 15 years of experience in managing
- scale projects, including significant exposure to nuclear projects or refurbishments. - At least 8 years of experience with CANDU Nuclear Power Plants or equivalent projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business management or a related field
- Prior experience or training in a Canadian run CANDU refurbishment will be considered an asset.
- Proven track record in previous large Projects in the Nuclear field; preferably proven experience with investment projects worth at least 100 million, EUR
Key Responsibilities:
• Project Management: Assist the Project Director in managing the overall project execution plan, with a particular focus on Construction
• Stakeholder Communication: Ensure efficient collaboration between internal teams, contractors, regulatory authorities, and external stakeholders, coordinating communication channels across the project and the organization.
• Contract Management: Collaborate with the Contract Management team to ensure contracts are executed properly, addressing any issues that arise on behalf of the owner.
• Project Reporting: Ensure project reporting for Construction by the prime contractor is accurate with respect to budget, scope and schedule.
• Monitoring and Control: Providing input to project KPIs, ensuring alignment with the established schedule and budget, and work with the team to address deviations.
• Risk Management: Identify risks to the owner and ensure the risk identification and mitigation planning, are in place to meet contractual requirements.
• Safety: Observe and provide comment to the owner and constructor on the safety program and adherence.
Skills and abilities:

- Demonstrated proficiency in project reporting, procurement, and contract management, particularly in refurbishment settings
