Your new role and environment.
The primary purpose of the EU Regional IT Architecture team is to translate strategy into solutions. The team defines and contributes to the region’s IT strategy and roadmap, and converts these into
- level IT architectures, including clear transition paths from the current to the future state.
Architecture governance ensures that the delivery of new and enhanced IT capabilities aligns with the
- term strategic goals captured in the IT solution roadmap and complies with established architecture standards and policies.
At the project level, the architecture team brings stakeholders together, ensures a shared understanding of business requirements and solution options, and designs both the transition plan and the target
- state architecture.

In this role, you will define the
- state architectural vision and conceptual designs for Customer & Digital, and plan the transition from the current state to the target state—driving architectural consistency across the organization to optimize costs and maximize reuse.
Together with the Customer & Digital Platform Architect, you will shape the e
Commerce and e
Commerce Fulfillment architecture strategy across the region, aligning solutions with business priorities and the overall corporate strategy.
Key responsibilities of your role.
- You understand the corporate strategy and business needs and lead the translation of this to a mid and long term (3-5 year) regional technology strategy in the areas of e
Commerce and e
Commerce Fulfillment, aligned with the regional EU and global IT strategy, in order to realize the defined objectives in an effective and efficient manner. - You understand the mid to long term (6-24 months) departmental & company challenges, to contribute to the technology strategy of the Ahold Delhaize Group.
- You deliver
- level architectural designs for the e
Commerce Product Cluster supporting capabilities such as Order Mangement, (e
Com) Warehouse Management (WMS), In-Store Fullfillment, Last Mile Delivery with own and 3rd party fleets. - You work with other members of the Architecture team as well as members of the delivery teams, at local/regional/global level if needed.
- You collaborate and partner with Product Management and business stakeholders across our EU brands to ensure alignment and secure
- wide stakeholder support. - You are able to work within an agile context and with waterfall managed projects
- You support Product and Solution architects to translate IT strategy and reference architectures into

- breed, flexible, and scalable infrastructure architecture - You lead / contribute to the reference architecture in your own domain.
- You ensure that the TCO implications of architecture decisions are factored into the solution choices.
- You apply the architectural principles and policies to the security, privacy and compliance regimes
- You suggest and provide solutions to business and management problems, and you develop innovative solutions
- You drive strategic plans towards concrete roadmaps and timely execution
- You support the program & project delivery teams embed security, privacy and regulatory needs into the solution designs.
- You stay abreast of new technologies

Requirements.
Experience and technical knowledge
- 10+ years of relevant IT experience
- Experience in the retail industry would be considered a plus
- Experience of complex IT landscapes and large organizations
- Proven experience as IT Architect and/or Enterprise Architect
- Proven experience in food e
Commerce and e
Commerce Fulfillment (including In-Store Fulfillment, Dark Stores, and DC-based fulfillment), as well as Last Mile Delivery models (such as own fleet and gig economy providers), is considered a strong plus. - Experience with modern development methodologies such as
- service development. - Experience in EA Modelling tools such as Bi
ZZdesign, Lean
IX, etc would be a plus - Experience in building the
-
- end customer journey - Experience with integration platforms such as Mule
Soft - Experience with REST APIs,
- driven architectures,
- native concepts, messaging systems (e. g. , Kafka), and
- scale design patterns. - Experience using hyperscalers and
- based infrastructure is desirable - Expertise in project management, escalation, process management and business systems requirements definition
- Experience with agile development methodologies (Scrum, Devops) or the SAFe framework would be appreciated.

- Ability to translate complex problems and technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives, visuals, and frameworks.
- Skilled in (visual) storytelling to effectively engage diverse audiences; ranging from business and product stakeholders to architectural and technical teams.
