Nuclear Safety and Licensing Procedure Writer and Analyst
The Nuclear Safety procedure developer and analyst will support the refurbishment project by supporting the execution of safety analysis and/or aiding in the development of operational procedures and documentation related to core surveillance and testing. The Nuclear Safety procedure developer and analyst will work closely with the project team and the station to ensure that the work conducted in support of the refurbishment project adheres to its safety, licensing, budget, schedule, and quality objectives.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Interface with the station Operations, Reactor Physics, Nuclear Safety, Licensing and document control Teams.
- Develop and support the development of procedures for refurbishment activities including core surveillance and testing and restart
- Support execution of deterministic safety analysis
- Ensures successful project delivery on assigned tasks.
- Ensures work and deliverables meet regulatory requirements
- Coordinate inputs, reviews and approvals from key stakeholders.
- Ensures the schedule is established, accurate, up to date and adhered to.
- Identify and communicate work progress.
- Completes all assigned project reports and ensure management is fully briefed on the status of the work assigned.
- Anticipates challenges and takes proactive mitigating actions to address them.
- Understands the impact of the work on the station’s safety and licensing basis
Skills & Experience
- Leadership: Assigned responsibility and accountability of various nuclear safety related work and activities. Has the ability to integrate with key station stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Communication: Ensure efficient collaboration between internal teams, contractors, regulatory authorities, and external stakeholders, coordinating communication channels across the project and the organization.
- Regulatory: Supports engagement with The National Commission for Nuclear Activities Control and can develop presentations and submissions that supports the safety case of refurbishment work and return to service.
- Project Reporting: Ensure the project management team is provided with timely and accurate reporting on schedule and risks.
- Risk Management: Assist with risk identification and mitigation planning, ensuring that risks are communicated effectively and managed across project departments.
Professional Knowledge and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Reactor Physics
- Operational Nuclear Safety
- Risk and Reliability
- Deterministic Safety Analysis
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with Nuclear Regulations and Licensing basis.
- Previous experience in a Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) required (with CANDU NPP preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics, engineering, or a related field
Skills and abilities:
- Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing.
- Ability to work well within a multi discipline team.
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Ability to multitask and work on a number of assignments in parallel

- making skills, particularly when dealing with complex problems with multiple potential solutions.

Communication:
- Strong, communication, and collaboration skills, with an ability to present to senior management and external stakeholders.
- Fluency in English is Mandatory
