Position Description

QIAGEN Digital Insights is a leading provider of bioinformatics software and knowledge bases used by life scientists to gain insight from the molecular information in their biological samples. We have developed
- leading software tools for analysis and reporting of biological data. We are passionate about our users, products, and our vision, and are seeking smart, motivated engineers and scientists who are eager to join our team in creating software that actually helps improve people's lives.

As an NLP Engineer, you will be part of a growing NLP team collaborating with
- functional team of scientists, bioinformaticians, knowledge engineers, and software engineers building powerful tools to gain biological insight into gene expression, variant association, and molecular interaction data. This is a a dynamic opportunity for you to develop cutting edge methods, explore new technologies, and help us overcome novel technical challenges. You will use your background in NLP and Machine Learning to assure and accelerate the scientific quality of content acquisition, biological interpretation, and information processing in our applications.

Responsibilities of the role:

- Improve existing pipelines for content acquisition.

- Develop, train, and validate machine learning models to target various use cases for biological literature

- Use a variety of NLP libraries and techniques for entity recognition and relationship extraction.

- Contribute to quality control and reliability efforts for our processes, pipelines, tools, and models that support development, build, and maintenance our biological content.

Position Requirements

- Proficiency in Python and experience with ML/NLP frameworks such as Py
Torch, Tensor
Flow, Hugging
Face, NLTK, or Spa
Cy.

- Solid understanding of ML workflows, including:

- Data ingestion and preprocessing from heterogeneous sources

- Feature engineering on unstructured and tabular data

- Model training, validation, monitoring, and explainability

- Deployment and productionization of ML models

- Experience with language models (e. g. , Word2Vec, BERT) and LLM APIs.

- Familiarity with software development tools: Git, Bash, SQL, AWS, Fast
API.

- Strong foundation in data science libraries: Pandas, Num
Py, Matplotlib.

- Graduate degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field.

Nice to have:

- Experience with Lang
Chain, Llama
Index, Qdrant, or FAISS for semantic search and
- augmented generation (RAG).

- Background in biomedical or life sciences domains.
