Summary

This position involves various levels of writing, testing and maintaining software solutions. Incumbents in the position are also involved in design, performance optimization and implementation of the operational systems on various platforms to ensure solutions are meeting needs of the end user.

Detailed Description

Incumbents apply
- depth knowledge in a specific area of specialization. Work is performed within established professional standards and practices. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors and a considerable degree of judgment. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may have a negative impact on the divisions’/departments’ operations, schedules, and/or performance goals. Works under minimum Supervision. Seeks approval from others on matters outside of job/role scope. Receives instruction on specific assignment objectives and possible solutions. Unusual problems are solved jointly with manager and/or senior development leads. Work is reviewed for application of sound technical judgment.  

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

• Excellent programming skills:

- Extensive Java development experience (Java EE 6/7);

- Proven experience in JSR and JSR (Java Portlet Specification) development and support;

- Proven experience leveraging WSRP 2. 0 Specification;

- Experience with Relational Databases (Oracle DB, PL/SQL);

- Experience with build & development
- practices/tools (e. g. , use of SVN, IDEs, etc. );

- Experience with Agile Software Development methodologies;

- Basic knowledge in installing/configuring/administering web servers (IIS, Apache, IBM http server) and application servers (IBM Web
Sphere, Oracle Web
Logic, Tomcat) would be considered an asset;

• Software design knowledge;

• In-depth analytical skills;

• Strong presentation skills;

• Understanding of project management methodologies;

• Good communication and interpersonal skills;

• Must be organized,
- oriented,
- motivated, disciplined, professional and a team player.

Physical Demands

• Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.

• Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.  

• Repetitive manual movements (e. g. , data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc. ) are frequently required.

• Occasional overnight travel is required.
