Part of the Global Business Unit Land and Air Systems (LAS) within Thales Group, Thales AMS (Airspace Mobility Solutions) is providing leading edge airspace control and security solutions for the commercial and defense sectors, as well as digital solutions for Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) and Digital Aviation.
AMS represents revenues of over 500 million Euros worldwide and is the global market leader in the space of Air Traffic Management and one of the most credible players in the new UTM space.
The AMS Business Line is undergoing a set of major challenges, airspace is becoming increasingly saturated, new regulations are being put in place, UTM is emerging as a new domain to cover, cyber threat, and is, in addition, facing technological breakthroughs coming from new technologies (agile software development, component based architecture, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, Cloud, . . . ).
The Airspace Mobility Solutions (AMS) BL strategy is based on two major transformations:
AMS delivers very complex safety and security critical systems mainly Software based. Projects are following an incremental and parallel development process. Projects involves teams in France (Rungis/Toulouse), Portugal, UK, Romania and Australia.
AMS is enforcing the discipline management to master ongoing developments and prepare the future in improving its competitiveness, customer and team satisfaction.
The Software Discipline Manager is part of the Software Discipline governance led by the Software Head of discipline and is responsible of people and discipline management.
As a key actor of competitiveness improvement, the Software Discipline Manager is in charge to deploy the engineering transformation and develop continuous improvement as well as a culture of innovation.
Within AMS Business Line the software discipline follows the software craftsmanship principles:
