Key Responsibilities:

1. Core SQL Server Engineering:

• Develop and maintain complex T-SQL code, including stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
• Perform advanced query optimization and performance tuning using execution plans and indexing strategies.
• Design and implement robust backup and recovery procedures (full, differential, transaction log, point-in-time recovery).
• Configure and support high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) features such as Always On Availability Groups, Failover clustering, Log shipping, Replication
• Enforce SQL Server security using roles, permissions, encryption, and auditing mechanisms.

2. Database Architecture and Design:

• Design logical and physical data models using tools such as ER/Studio, dbForge Studio, or Visual Studio SSDT.
• Apply normalization and denormalization techniques appropriate for OLTP and OLAP environments.
• Implement database partitioning and sharding strategies to support data scalability and performance.
• Define data lifecycle management and archival policies in accordance with organizational and regulatory needs.

3. Data Integration and ETL Development:

• Design and maintain ETL pipelines using SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services).
• Work with data lakes, blob storage, and data warehouse environments for large-scale data integration.
• Plan and execute data migration strategies from legacy systems to modern SQL Server platforms.
• Implement Change Data Capture (CDC) and Change Tracking where applicable.

4. Security and Compliance:

• Implement data protection strategies including: Row-level security, Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), Static and dynamic data masking
• Ensure database systems align with compliance frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, and SOX.
• Participate in audits and provide technical support for compliance reporting.

5. Cross-functional Collaboration and Documentation:

• Work with solution architects and developers to ensure database design aligns with application needs.
• Understand and support Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) tools such as Entity Framework.
• Maintain clear and up-to-date technical documentation and data models.
• Provide mentoring and knowledge sharing to junior team members and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server in a production environment.
• Deep knowledge of T-SQL and SQL Server performance tuning techniques.
• Proven experience with high availability setups and disaster recovery planning.
• Proficient in SSIS and modern data integration strategies.
• Familiarity with security, compliance, and data governance in enterprise settings.
• Strong architectural thinking and understanding of application-database interactions.
• Fluent in Romanian and English (written and spoken).
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Preferred (but not required):

• Experience with cloud-based SQL Server deployments (e. g. , Azure SQL).
• Familiarity with DevOps practices related to database CI/CD.
• Exposure to business intelligence tools and OLAP systems.
