JavaScript Engineer
Come and work in the Web Engineering team at Garmin!
In Cluj, we’re a team of 8 great players (including QA) and we are looking to reinforce and expand our ranks.
- From a super high level point of view, our team’s main responsibility is www.garmin.com with all its encompassing features, with more and more being created from scratch or moved from legacy systems into our ownership every month.
- We’re organized in decoupled squads each with engineers spread between Cluj and our US main office in Olathe, KS, allowing each squad to work and deploy code independently.
- We’re pushing towards full CI/CD and our process is based on the Agile Manifesto,
- tuned by each squad as it suits them. - Our weapons of choice include Slack and Teams, Jira/Confluence, Jenkins, PCF, Cloudflare, Contentful, Sentry, Uptrends and Pagerduty.
- Highly collaborative product development process, closely working with product owners, BAs and Architect on compelling new features for our global users.

Requirements
We are looking for passionate and experienced software engineers to join our team in Cluj. Here’s what our technical playing field looks like when viewed from a (Garmin equipped) airplane :

- Vue
JS SPAs backed by Node
JS middle layers that provide data aggregation and secure access to JSON APIs or CMS content served through Elasticsearch. - We embrace the idea of
- frontends such that each squad in our team is independently responsible of their codebases and deployments. - Everything is deployed into Cloud Foundry through Jenkins pipelines.
What we’re looking for specifically:
- Strong proficiency with Java
Script application development including asynchronous programming, Promises, ES6. - Proven experience with Java
Script frameworks such as Vue
JS or similar. - Experience with responsive web design.
- Familiarity with unit and automation testing concepts and technologies.
- Experience with development processes including version control, automated testing, security, and performance considerations across modern browsers.
Would be a plus:
- Experience with
- side programming using Node
JS, associated frameworks (Express) and module bundlers like Webpack or Grunt. - Experience developing web services and manipulating data in JSON format.
- Experience with a headless CMS.
- Cypress, Puppeteer.
- Cloudflare Workers.
