The Opportunity
Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) enables businesses to deliver the right experience at the right time to their customers. The Segmentation Service is one of the key AEP services, providing the ability to define customer segments and generate target audiences based on
- time customer profiles. Customer segment definitions are sophisticated queries over profile and event data capturing specific attributes or behaviors shared by a subset of users. With the need to perform trillions of audience segment evaluations per day, scalability and efficiency are paramount in segment evaluation. This is a great opportunity for an engineer to solve extremely exciting challenges of scale and build core services that are used by all Adobe Digital Experience solutions. As part of building these services, you will work with an exceptionally talented and collaborative team, tackle large scale data management and complex query evaluation challenges, design & implement innovative algorithms and build highly performant services.
What you'll Do
Collaborate with a team of engineers & product managers in building a
- performance segmentation engine. Own responsibility for design and implementation of key components
Develop query abstraction layers to logically model segment definitions
Develop and implement techniques for large scale distributed data management across data lake and warehouse style environments
Develop query optimization and evaluation algorithms including
- query optimization, incremental evaluation, and streaming evaluation
Explore tradeoffs across alternate schema layouts and query translation optimizations driven by workload and application characteristics
Build tools to monitor query performance and identify & debug potential semantic errors
Deploy production services and iteratively improve them based on customer feedback
Follow Agile methodologies using industry leading CI/CD pipelines
Participate in architecture, design & code reviews
What you need to succeed
in Computer Science or a related field is required
in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent practical experience is preferred
Practical experience at scale in distributed systems or databases is required. Knowledge and experience in data lakes, data warehouses or Spark is preferred
Experience building a scalable query engine is preferred. Experience in language design is a plus
Strong grasp of algorithms and data structures
Strong programming skills with extensive experience in Java or Scala
Leadership skills to collaborate and drive
- team efforts
Excellent communication skills
Adaptable to evolving priorities, accepting challenges outside one's comfort zone, learning new technologies, and delivering viable solutions within defined time boundaries.
Ability to think through solutions from a short term and
- term lens in an iterative development cycle.
